AQUATECH AEROBIC SAND FILTER TREATMENT
SYSTEMS
The
Aquatech Treatment System Process
The Aquatech aerobic sand filter system
has been developed for the treatment of ALL
household wastewater. Unlike septic tanks
this total wastewater approach fully
includes kitchen, bathroom, laundry and
toilet wastes without exception. The
wastewater is then processed and
"renovated" before being
automatically distributed through sprinklers
serving lawn and garden areas.
This is the cleverly
engineered environmentally friendly
alternative to conventional septic tanks
systems, yet without the high maintenance
associated with mechanical aeration plants.
It utilises natural processes of settling
and filtration in an environment where
organisms beneficial to the breakdown of
wastes may flourish.
A
Step "A" - Wastewater
Collection
Household waste water from kitchen, laundry,
bathroom and toilet systems are directed to one common
drainage pipe. It's much like being
connected to a town sewer system. This
"drain" then leads into a large
capacity treatment chamber [B].
B
Step "B" - Primary Treatment
Naturally occurring bacteria start the
treatment process by breaking down settled
solids through anaerobic digestion. Fats and
other light matter float to the surface to
form a scum.
Liquid wastewater, which
now has had a large proportion of
suspended solids removed, flows into a pump
chamber where, by simple float-switch
control it is pumped onwards and onto a
buried anaerobic sand filter.
C
Step "C" - Secondary
Treatment
Unlike other secondary treatment systems
currently available, the Aquatech Treatment System does NOT use mechanical aerators,
diffusers, blowers, artificial media
material or costly moving parts. Instead, a
well designed and carefully constructed
buried Aerobic Sand Filter offers secondary
treatment and "polishing" of the
effluent in a completely natural and
inexpensive manner.
The Aquatech Sand Filter
has been designed using the engineering
principle of Long Term Acceptance Rate (LTAR).
This ensures that the filter has a long life
without hydraulic surcharging.
Liquid wastewater from a
primary pump chamber is dose loaded onto a
bed of clean crushed rock. It then slowly
percolates down through various layers of
specially graded sand and rock.
Physical, chemical and
biological processes occur naturally within
the Aerobic Sand Filter to remove organic
material and most importantly
harmful bacteria, pathogens and viruses.
D
Step "D" - Renovated Water
Distribution
The renovated water is collected at the base of the fully
lined Aerobic Sand
Filter and
drained to a pump chamber. It is now ready
to be distributed through a fixed or movable
sprinkler distribution system onto lawns,
gardens or native bushland.
The Aquatech Treatment
System offers a great many benefits not
